Privacy policy

Short version: HideMyShare collects nothing. There is no account, no telemetry, no analytics and no advertising in the app or on this site.

What stays on your computer

  • App settings, preferences and your license record are stored locally in your user profile.
  • Your license key is stored encrypted, bound to your machine, and is verified offline using a cryptographic signature.

What leaves your computer

  • During activation, un-binding a computer, or automatic license re-validation, the app contacts our license API (api.hidemyshare.site) with your license key and an anonymous machine identifier. No window contents, titles or usage data are ever transmitted.
  • Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments as merchant of record. When you buy, Dodo Payments receives your payment details and email; we receive your email and order status for support and licensing. See Dodo Payments's own privacy policy for their data handling.
  • The update check (only in the installed Windows app) contacts this site to compare version numbers; it sends no personal data.

Terms of service

The license

  • A personal license allows use of HideMyShare by one person on up to computer at a time. You may move the license to another computer yourself at any time.
  • The license is perpetual for the version you buy and includes future updates. If a future version moves to a paid upgrade model, your license keeps working.
  • Licenses are per-person; reselling or sharing licenses between different people may cause the key to be disabled.

Acceptable use

HideMyShare exists to protect personal privacy — keeping your private conversations out of shared screens in meetings, streams and recordings. You agree not to use it to:

  • circumvent proctored exams, remote-testing supervision or similar integrity monitoring;
  • deceive an employer's or institution's compliance and monitoring systems in violation of their policies;
  • facilitate unlawful activity or evidence concealment.

Use in violation of this section may lead to license termination without refund, as permitted by law.

Disclaimer

HideMyShare is provided "as is". We test it against major meeting and capture software on supported Windows versions, but we depend on Windows APIs and third-party apps' behavior, which can change. We don't warrant that protection is unbreakable in every possible configuration, and we're not liable for indirect damages arising from use of the app.

Refund policy

  • 14-day money-back guarantee. If HideMyShare doesn't work for you, email (or reply to your order email) within 14 days of purchase for a full refund — no questions asked.
  • Refunds are processed by Dodo Payments to your original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days.
  • A refund permanently disables the refunded license key on all computers.
