Share your screen.
Not your private windows.

In a meeting and need to share your screen? HideMyShare hides your chats and personal apps from the share — while they stay fully visible to you. The other side simply doesn't see them.

HideMyShare app — protecting windows during screen share
Features

Built for real meeting days

Everything runs locally on your PC. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is streamed anywhere.

Works with everything

Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Tencent Meeting, Feishu/Lark, DingTalk, OBS, screen recorders, remote-viewers — if it captures your screen, protected windows stay out.

🔁

Always-on tracking

New chat windows are protected the moment they appear. Close and reopen the app — protection re-attaches automatically. No babysitting.

⌨️

IME protection

Input-method candidate windows leak what you type. HideMyShare detects and hides them automatically for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and more.

🎯

Custom rules

Any app, not just the presets: pick a window and HideMyShare builds a rule that follows the whole application.

🌍

20 languages

Full interface in English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Deutsch, Français, Español, Português, Русский and more — with RTL support for Arabic.

🔒

Private by design

No account. No telemetry. No cloud. Activation works fully offline; the app only talks to our license server when you activate or re-bind a machine.

🌙

Native Windows 11 feel

Mica material, dark & light themes, tray mode, pause switch, starts with Windows — a utility that behaves like a first-class Windows app.

🛡️

Open-core transparency

The 4 KB helper DLL that performs the hiding is published as readable C source with build instructions — audit exactly what gets injected into your apps.

⏸️

One-tap pause

Need to show something private in a hurry? Pause protection and every window comes back instantly — resume and it's hidden again.

Compatibility

Windows 10 & 11

Windows 10 2004+ and Windows 11 — full exclusion

Protected windows are completely excluded from every capture: not shown, not blacked out, no trace. This uses Microsoft's own WDA_EXCLUDEFROMCAPTURE window attribute.

Older Windows 10 — black-box mode

Before Windows 10 version 2004, Windows can only mark a window as "do not capture", which viewers see as a black rectangle instead. Fully functional, just less elegant — we tell you when you're in this mode.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can the people in the meeting see anything?

On Windows 10 (2004+) and Windows 11: no. Protected windows are removed from the capture entirely — the shared stream looks like the windows never existed. On older Windows 10 versions viewers see a black rectangle where the window would be (see Compatibility above).

Does it work with Zoom / Teams / Google Meet / OBS / Tencent Meeting?

Yes — and with any other sharing or recording software, because the hiding happens at the Windows capture level, not inside the meeting app. Browser-based sharing (Google Meet in Chrome) is covered as well.

Can I still see the hidden windows myself?

Yes. Protection only affects what capture APIs see. On your physical screen everything looks and works normally — you read, type and scroll as usual.

Windows shows a "Windows protected your PC" warning when I run the installer

This is the standard SmartScreen notice for apps from independent developers, not a virus finding. Click More info → Run anyway. Step-by-step instructions with screenshots are on the Help page.

My antivirus flags the app. Is it safe?

HideMyShare needs to mark other applications' windows as non-capturable, and Windows only allows that from within the target app itself — so HideMyShare injects a tiny open-source helper (published as readable C source) to set the flag. Injection is also what malware does, which is why some antivirus tools are suspicious. We submit every release to antivirus vendors; if yours still complains, the Help page shows how to whitelist it.

How many computers can I use it on?

One license covers computer. You can unbind it yourself anytime from inside the app, and time-restore issues heal automatically online.

Does it need to run in the background all the time?

While it runs it sits in the tray (about 100 MB RAM) and re-checks every second so newly opened windows are covered. Closing the window exits the app completely — no background processes left behind — and on exit it un-hides everything it protected. Prefer it always running? Enable autostart and it will stay in the tray from boot.

Is my data private?

There is no account, no telemetry and no analytics. The app stores its settings and license locally; the only network calls are license activation/re-binding to our API. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments as merchant of record. Full privacy policy.

What about refund?

14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked — the purchase goes through Dodo Payments, which processes the refund to your original payment method. Details in the refund policy.
